Application and Grant Process

  • Families with a child (or children) planning to attend a Catholic school in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown are eligible to apply. As of July 1, 2011, maximum income to qualify for EITC scholarships is $60,000 per family, with each eligible school-aged child increasing this income ceiling by $12,000.
  • A correct and completed financial aid application, including family tax return information and a non-refundable fee per family, must be submitted to our independent service provider by the appropriate application deadline. Our application process guarantees confidentiality of your application. The fee covers grant management services. Neither the Second Century Fund nor the Diocese receives any portion of this fee.
  • The Diocesan Education Office will notify families receiving grants by mail, with instructions for an acceptance deadline. Scholarships are made directly to the schools and will be credited to the studentsŐ accounts for use in the applicable school year.
  • Parents of students (as well as all Catholics) can help increase the pool of scholarship grants by encouraging employers and area businesses to participate in this tax credit program. Just download and give them this flyer.
