NOTE: The Application Process for the upcoming academic year has been completed. Information for the 2008-09 academic year will be posted on this site by January 2008.
Parents can download a 2007-08 PSAS scholarship application here. These forms are also available from Catholic School offices.
Families with a child (or children) planning to attend a Catholic school in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown are eligible to apply. Initial state eligibility is set at $60,000 annual income per family with one eligible school-aged child. The income ceiling increases by $10,000 for each additional dependent child. Applicants are not guaranteed to receive a grant.
A correct and completed application, including family tax return information and a $20 non-refundable fee per family, must be mailed to Private School Aid Service (PSAS) of Cleveland, Ohio, by the application deadline. Confidentiality is guaranteed by using PSAS. The application fee covers PSAS's grant management services; neither the Second Century Fund nor the Diocese receives any portion of this fee. Scholarship applications for the 2007-08 academic year must be postmarked by either February 19, 2007 (for high school applicants) or March 2, 2007 (for pre-k and elementary school applicants).
Families receiving grants will be notified by mail and will be given an acceptance deadline. Families will receive notification from the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown Education Office. Grants are made directly to the schools and will be credited to the students’ accounts for use in the applicable school year.
Parents of students (and all Catholics) can help increase the pool of scholarship grants by encouraging employers and area businesses to participate in the EITC/PKTC tax credit programs and direct contributions to the Second Century Scholarship Fund.
