What Schools does the Second Century Fund support?

We support all of the schools shown here.

Does my business qualify?

The program is open to businesses that are subject to any one of the following six taxes:

  • Capital Stock Franchise Tax
  • Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax
  • Insurance Premiums Tax
  • Corporate Net Income Tax
  • Title Insurance Company Shares Tax
  • Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax

Businesses may elect to pass through tax credits to the Personal Income Tax of S Corporation Shareholders, or partners in a general or limited partnership by meeting DCED application filing requirements.

What is the maximum credit my business can receive?

If a business agrees to make the same EITC contribution to an organization for two consecutive tax years, it may earn a credit equal to 90% of its contribution. For a one-year commitment, a business may earn a 75% credit for a one-year commitment. For a PKTC, a business may earn a 100% tax credit on the first $10,000 donated and 90% over that amount.

When can I apply to the DCED for tax credit approval?

The tax credit pools are filled each year beginning on July 1. Since the program has become quite popular, you should plan to submit your application(s) on the first business day after this date.

Who do I help with a contribution to the Second Century Scholarship Fund?

You help children enrolled in pre-kindergarten and/or kindergarten through grade 12 in one of the Catholic schools located in Blair, Bedford, Cambria, Centre, Clinton, and Somerset counties. We are permitted to award EITC Scholarships to families with a maximum income of $72,000 for a family with one dependent child. The maximum increases $12,000 for each additional dependent member of the household. For example, a family with three dependent children and income of $96,000 or less would be considered eligible under state guidelines - provided we have sufficient funds available.

When do students benefit from my EITC contribution?

Gifts received in one fiscal year are distributed as tuition assistance in the following fiscal year. For example, gifts received between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 will be distributed in the fall of 2012.
